Rentlodex > Airbnb Hosts > Must-Have Interior Design Features For Your Airbnb Rental

There are plenty of rental properties out there to choose from, but do you know what makes a great Airbnb rental?

While the property and its location are, no doubt, important considerations, so is its design.

There are some must-have interior design features you don’t want to miss when it comes to your Airbnb rental.

Living room/seating

Whether your Airbnb is a cozy studio or a more spacious rental, you’ll need to incorporate some type of living room or seating into the space.

Think about a living room with a comfortable sofa to sit down and watch TV.

You may also want to bring in some extra chairs or a love seat. You need to make sure there’s enough seating to accommodate all guests that legally occupy the rental.

To help with wear and tear, choose furniture in

  • Neutral colors (browns or dark greys)

You can always add in pops of color with pillows, throw blankets and other types of décor.

Comfortable beds

You don’t have to go crazy when you’re decorating, but comfortable beds are a must!

An uncomfortable bed can completely ruin the experience, so make sure your rental is cozy and attractive, right down to the beds.

If you want to change things up, buy bedding for multiple bedrooms in complimentary shades and patterns so you can mix things up a bit, but still provide a pleasant experience.

A well-equipped kitchen

A well-equipped kitchen is key. You want to stock your Airbnb’s kitchen with things guests need and want to feel at home.

Make sure you have a nice sturdy set of dishes, some pots and pans and some utensils.

You don’t want a bunch of mismatched things, either. Try and pull together a design scheme with all the comforts of home.

Don’t forget the bathrooms

Don’t forget about the bathrooms, either. You’ll need to provide a set of towels for all of your guests. You probably want to throw in some extra hand towels, too.

Try not to skimp on the quality. Again, your guests will likely be giving you a review, so you don’t want something as simple and inexpensive as towels to reflect negatively on your property.

Good Wi-Fi

A lot of guests these days want Wi-Fi, so making sure your rental comes with good internet service is key.

Remember, not all travelers are on vacation. Some need to work, and you don’t want slow internet service to turn up on a review later on.

Other considerations

If you’re trying to create the illusion of more space, consider adding in things like mirrors. They can make a room feel bigger.

Leave personal items out of the design scheme, though.

It’s a good idea to remove all personal pictures and any sentimental items before listing your Airbnb rental.
