Kitchen Features & Utensils Every Airbnb Unit Needs

Location, price and added amenities all come into play when it comes to the desirability of an Airbnb.

However, there are a few things you don’t want to forget. Although some seem kind of small, they can make a big difference when it comes to attracting guests.

People choose Airbnb units over traditional hotels for a lot of reasons, and one of those reasons is that the space feels more like a “home away from home”.

With this in mind, you need to make the space comfortable and inviting.

Airbnb recommends including basic items for your guests already, such as soap, towels and linens. Beyond this, there are some other items that every Airbnb unit needs.

Start with the kitchen!

The kitchen is one of the most utilized rooms in any home, so make sure your guests have what they need during their stay.

While a bowl of fresh fruit or some coffee is always a nice touch that helps set your property apart, you don’t need to stock your kitchen with an endless supply of food and perishables.

There are, however, some kitchen design features and added items your guests may need and expect during their stay:

Common essentials:
  • Microwave
  • Refrigerator
  • Cooktop/oven
  • Coffee maker
  • Toaster or toaster oven

Because people often stay in an Airbnb for a longer period of time than a hotel, you need to make sure you’re including items they may need on a daily basis.

Other kitchen basics:
  • Pots/pans
  • Dishes
  • Utensils
  • Mugs/glasses
  • Cutting board/knife

It’s extremely important to make sure you have enough sets of dishes and utensils to accommodate all your guests.

You’ve advertised your Airbnb unit as accommodating up to a certain number of guests, so many sure all guests are taken care of. You certainly don’t want to advertise for six guests, but only supply a table setting for two or three.

You may even want to include some other commonly used items in your Airbnb kitchen that guests are sure to be thankful for during their stay. This may include items such as:

  • Can openers
  • Bottle/wine bottle openers

Of course, you’ll need to think of some basic kitchen clean-up supplies, too, including:

  • Broom/dustpan
  • An all-purpose cleaner
  • Dish soap/dishwashing detergent
  • Kitchen towels/paper towels

While you don’t need to give your guests an endless supply of items, a few necessities will certainly be appreciated.

As long as you’re truthful in your listing description and with your photographs, your guests should be able to see what your Airbnb unit includes.

This way there aren’t any surprises, and your guests will comfortably enjoy their stay, no matter whether your Airbnb comes with a large and spacious kitchen or a small and cozy kitchenette.
